Being physically active every day is important for the healthy growth and development of infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
The Department of Health has published National Physical Activity Recommendations for Children.
These recommendations are for all infants aged 0-5 years who have not yet started school, irrespective of cultural background, gender or ability.
It is recommended that:
Toddlers (1 to 2 years) should spend at least 180 minutes a day doing a variety of physical activities including energetic play such as running, jumping and twirling spread throughout the day.
Pre-schoolers (3 to 5 years) should spend at least 180 minutes a day in a variety of physical activities, of which 60 minutes is energetic play such as running, jumping and kicking and throwing, spread throughout the day.
Sprockets! presents preschool children with the opportunity to interact with their peers in a fun and interactive group setting. This promotes and develops the life long skills of sharing, turn taking, listening, responding, encouraging and following instructions.
Sprockets! allows preschool children the opportunity to develop their sense of self awareness and confidence. Children will gain a sense of identity from belonging to a group and be involved in activities where they can extend their emotional capacity and responses.
Sprockets! teaches children in 7 different sports. Children will become active class members and develop specific sporting skills. They will extend their knowledge and ability in the 12 fundamental movement skills needed to successfully participate in sports and games.
We would love your child to join us at Sprockets! to begin their sporting journey.
